Rev. David C. Southern Memorial Scholarship
Rev. David Southern became a licensed minister at his home church, Robinhood Road Baptist, Winston Salem, NC, in 1977. He was ordained at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Angier, NC, in 1982, where he served his first church as Youth Minister while a student at Campbell University. He served in the pastoral
ministry for eighteen years until his untimely death on October 20, 1995. Pastor David had a strong love and concern for any young man or woman desiring to seek full-time Christian service. He understood the financial struggle and years involved in preparation for ministry. That is why in 2006 his family created a scholarship in his memory for an eligible high school senior who is feeling God’s call toward full-time Christian service. A scholarship fund has been set up by his family through the Enon Baptist Church, East Bend, North Carolina. Applicants should submit their application to the Rev. David C. Southern Memorial Scholarship committee each year by April 1st. The committee will be composed of at least one member of Rev. Southern’s family and the Enon Baptist Benevolence Committee. An applicant interview with the committee is required. The scholarship recipient will be announced at the Awards Day Ceremony at the
student’s high school. A check for a minimum of $300 will be sent to the college after proof of enrollment is received. Priority will be given to a senior who is a member of Enon Baptist Church. Non-Enon Baptist members may also apply.
